BECK & PHOENIX 9/5

September 5, 2023

The MGM Music Hall at Fenway transformed into a haven of musical magic on Tuesday, September 5th, as a stellar lineup of artists of the Summer Odyssey tour took the stage. The night was opened by two acts: indie rock band from Vermont, Sir Chloe, and Pennsylvania-raised artist, Weyes Blood.

Sir Chloe started the night with a bang. Their raw energy and emotional lyrics struck a chord with the early arrivals, setting a high standard for the night. Weyes Blood followed suit with her ethereal performance. Her mesmerizing vocals and dreamy melodies transported the audience to another realm.

The energy in the air was electric as the French pop-rock sensation, Phoenix, made their entrance onto the stage. Their signature fusion of indie rock and synth-pop illuminated the entire venue. The audience was irresistibly compelled to sway to their infectious rhythms. Hits like “Lisztomania” and “1901” unleashed torrents of euphoria, rendering it an impossible task for anyone to remain motionless.

Closing out the night was none other than the legendary Beck. His genre-defying performance was nothing short of breathtaking. From classics like “Loser” to the soulful “Lost Cause,” Beck proved why he's an icon. The seamless fusion of genres in his set left the audience in awe.

As the night neared its pinnacle, all the bands joined forces for a spellbinding rendition of their collective masterpiece “Odyssey.” And just as the evening hit its peak, a cascade of balloons soared heavenward, injecting a touch of enchanting magnificence into this unforgettable musical journey.
