PALACE 3/1
— March 1, 2025 —
Palace took the stage at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater in Austin on March 1, captivating the packed crowd with their signature atmospheric rock. The night kicked off with Darling Farm, a Texas-based band whose folk-infused indie rock set the perfect tone for the evening. Bathed in the glow of Austin’s skyline, their warm, folk-tinged melodies felt right at home in the outdoor venue, easing the audience into the show before Palace took the stage with their captivatingly melancholic sound.
Kicking off with “Cocoon” and flowing seamlessly into “Goodnight, Farewell,” the UK band quickly had the crowd hooked, their dreamy guitars and Leo Wyndham’s soulful vocals filling the air. By the time Palace launched into fan favorites like “Live Well” and “Bitter,” the energy from the crowd was electric. The outdoor setting, the warm night air, and the glowing stage lights made for an almost cinematic experience. Everyone around seemed fully immersed, swaying and singing along, lost in the band’s hypnotic sound. Each song felt like a shared moment between Palace and their devoted fans, proving why they’ve built such a strong following.

The only downside of the night was the occasional rowdy audience member—at times, their excitement veered into disruption, with drunken shouts cutting into quieter, more intimate moments. “Heaven Up There” should have been a haunting, stripped-back highlight, but instead, it competed with offbeat stomps and slurred singalongs. Even so, I will never miss a Palace concert and was grateful to have experienced their magic at a venue far from home. Their performance was nothing short of stunning, leaving Austin with a night to remember.
