Rising Country Star Carter Faith Reflects on Change and Authenticity with the Release of Her New EP
— October 10, 2024 —
Carter Faith, the 24-year-old rising country star and recent UMG Nashville signee, brought warmth and authenticity to a recent °1824 press conference as she shared her journey, creative process, and inspirations behind her latest project, The Aftermath. Now on tour supporting Midland and set to join Luke Grimes in November, Carter’s genuine nature and down-to-earth vibe continue to resonate with fans, helping her grow her audience.
Talking about The Aftermath, Carter revealed how the EP reflects her early-20s journey of change and self-discovery. “I feel like I am always changing, and it’s terrifying,” she admitted. While some songs feel distant now, Carter is especially close to tracks like “Late Bloomer.” Describing the song as “a bit of a backstory,” Carter shared that she’d “rather skip the small talk and get to know your trauma right away” when connecting with people. Written with her younger brother in mind, “Late Bloomer” serves as a personal anthem for them both, reminding them it’s okay to embrace their own pace.
Though rooted in country music, Carter’s style brings in unexpected influences, like Lana Del Rey, whom she discovered through Tumblr. “I am born and bred country music. I love country music. That’s all I kind of listened to growing up. But also growing up, I found Tumblr and I would listen to Lana and all those bands that I am sure we all love. I think there is a lot of country essence in Lana Del Rey’s music, the storytelling. This EP and going forward, I wanted to bring that in.”
The title track, “The Aftermath,” is especially meaningful to Carter, written during a tough breakup before it even happened. “It was my first serious relationship… that breakup was really hard, and it was really hard to write about,” she shared. “I wrote the song before we even broke up. That was even more painful… I should’ve known.” Her honesty in turning these vulnerable experiences into music is a source of pride and growth.
Carter also has a strong vision for the visuals that accompany her music. “I want my music to be an experience, and I really want my visuals to be good.” A Pinterest enthusiast, she often finds inspiration there to shape each project’s unique vibe. “I start with a feel, maybe one inspiration photo, and I’m like, ‘this is the vibe we should try to capture.’” For Carter, music and visuals are inseparable, coming together to create a complete experience for her fans.
Looking forward to 2025, Carter is eager to keep connecting with fans, both on stage and through new releases. She shared one of her favorite memories so far—performing alongside Willie Nelson. “At the end of the show, he has everyone who is a part of the show come on and sing ‘Will the Circle Be Unbroken’... just to share a stage with Willie Nelson and he looks at you… that’s special.” For Carter, those moments are unforgettable.
Reflecting on The Aftermath, Carter’s most proud of the honesty she’s poured into her music. “I am the proudest of the way I put my true, honest feelings into words. In these songs, there is a lot of life—a lot of tough and exciting times. I am really proud of how I strung them together and just the honesty, because that feels like an accomplishment to me.” For Carter, capturing these raw emotions feels like a milestone, bringing her closer to her fans through shared experiences.
As Carter continues to tour and connect with audiences, her grounded approach and dedication to storytelling shine through, making her one of country music’s most relatable new voices. With The Aftermath, she’s not just sharing music; she’s sharing pieces of herself, creating a journey her fans can follow, one heartfelt lyric at a time.
